Home > DGMS > 32. Why do we choose before-meal or fasting glucose values as reference for calibration?
As we mentioned before, in order to get accurate slope and intercept, it is more reliable to test reference glucose at a dynamic balanced state when the glucose concentration of tissue fluid is in conformity to that of plasma. The blood glucose and tissue fluid glucose are more than likely different a short time after meals when glucose changes quickly (dynamic imbalance). In this way, before-meal and fasting blood glucose values are recommended to avoid any systematical error caused by calibration. |
