Dynamic Glucose Monitoring System (DGMS®) is the name for a continuous glucose examination in subcutaneous tissue. The glucose sensor can be inserted (one kind of biochemical sensor) into a person’s subcutaneous tissue, and the glucose change collected over a 24 hour period. Using software, the data can then be downloaded, generating a graph of glucose changes. From the graph, one can judge his or her daily changing trend and fluctuation of blood glucose, comparing the change with daily routines, such as meals, medication, exercise, and so on. Generally speaking, there are two types of glucose sensors: short-term and long-term. Short-term sensors can work for 3 to 15 days, while long-term sensors can work for 3 to 6 months. |
