Home > DGMS > 16. Can individual users purchase and operate DGMS?
Of course they can. SMPG (Self-MeasuredPlasma Glucose) is an important method to evaluate the curative effect of diabetes and to guarantee medical security. Using DGMS, the ordinary person, can forecast and prevent the occurrence of diabetes, while the diabetic patients can adjust his or her medicine plan according to the glucose self-monitoring situation, which is advantageous for long-term control of glucose, delay and the prevention of complications.
At present, there are two types of products that can help the individual consumer in the self- monitoring process. The first is the blood glucose meter (single test of glucose), and the second is the dynamic glucose monitoring system. Thus far, the former has a history of nearly 50 years, and is widely used because of its convenience and because people are familiar with it. However, as we have previously shown, it can only represent glucose changes over a few minutes and, therefore, is unable to reflect trends in a patient’s glucose level—particularly those “blind spots,” such as patients with non-symptom hypoglycemia and whose peak glucose value is delayed for 3 hours or more. The technology of dynamic glucose monitoring, on the other hand, is currently the most advanced biochemical technology in the world. It has been in various stages of development for the last fifty years and is now ready for commercialization. Most importantly, continuous glucose monitoring helps diabetic users to evaluate the real curative effect of the drug and the dosage, to measure the glucose content in the user’s diet, and to examine the effect of exercises on glucose levels. San Meditech’s DGMS not only can help to design treatment for individual users, but also to achieve the aim of a “family hospital” health protection. DGMS is small, convenient, accurate and easy to operate; it saves money and sustaints health.
